On baby's first birthday, place a single candle and 11 of the whimsical painted pegs around the ring. Add a candle to the ring in place of a peg each year until the 12th birthday. (The remaining can be placed in the center of the ring.) This will be a special tradition to look forward to as each birthday comes around.
